How to choose the right Fire Alarm Control Panel.
This topic is to help you choose the right panel for your system. *This topic is made for beginners*
Listed below is frequently asked questions about buying a panel
-Were can i find a fire alarm control panel?
The best place to look is Ebay.com!
-What is the best panel to start with?
The best panel to start with would be a firelite ms2/ms4.
-How much should i spend on a Fire Alarm Control Panel?
I would not spend more then $300.00. panels are not cheap so don't be upset if you can't get one.
-When should i get a panel?
You should not get a panel unless you have a pullstation and a horn/strobe and know how to use them. Do your homework before you get one as well.
I hope this helps you. if you have more questions to ask post a reply and i will answer it.
Thank You,
Nathan H.

Re: How to choose the right Fire Alarm Control Panel.
My first control panel was a Fire-Lite MS-2. They are very simple, and easy to wire, which makes them great for fire alarm enthusiasts.

I said that because there is still a "shadow topic" in the fire alarm general discussion forum, and that can be confusing.

Do you have access to those buttons from your account?
No, a "shadow topic" is just a redirection to the moved topic. It's there so if you go to that forum to check for replies, you can still find it in the new forum.

I think you forgot to insert the image.
Send me the image in a private message, so we don't get too off topic.

Actually, a brand new MS-2 sells for about $275 from a fire alarm sales company.

Oh wait, I just realized that he said he got a MS-4, not a MS-2, so then they do sell for about $400.
So, yeah, that is a good deal. It's 75% off!

Re: How to choose the right Fire Alarm Control Panel.
I would disagree that the best panel to start out would specifically be an MS-2 or an MS-4. Sure, those are good panels, but there are a lot of other panels made by different companies (and some made by Fire-Lite) that are just as good, if not better. Really, any conventional control panel that isn't too hard to figure out makes a great starter panel. Here are a couple of other good starter panels that come to mind:
EST FireShield
Fire-Lite MS-4424
Fire-Lite MS-5024UD
Simplex 4001
Simplex 4004
Silent Knight 5204
EST FireShield
Fire-Lite MS-4424
Fire-Lite MS-5024UD

Re: How to choose the right Fire Alarm Control Panel.
A starter panel should be simple and cheap, unlike the MS-5UD. I didn't think about discontinued or Simplex panels, so U8oL0 does have a good list.
I definitely agree with the EST FireShield, I even think that I should have gotten that one instead of my MS-2. My MS-2 cost more than the FireShield I found on eBay. I should have done more research, and not bought one new in box from a fire alarm sales company.

Re: How to choose the right Fire Alarm Control Panel.
I've never bought a panel off of eBay. With the MS-2s, I didn't think about checking eBay, because I was new to all of this fire alarm collecting stuff. My MS9050UD is also new in box from a fire alarm sales agency, because it was cheaper than getting any off of eBay.
